University of Johannesburg unacceptable conduct on refund request
As a NSFAS applicant, you are required to be registered with your chosen university, in my case UJ. UJ however, would not register me as a student unless the first module of my course R4360,00 was paid. I made the payment in March, only to find out from UJ that they would only be able to register me as a student in April 2021. My course was due to start in May 2021. As soon as the course date starts, you cannot get a full refund. I app**** for a refund on 30 April 2021, with a waiting period of 7-14 days, on 31 May 2021 I received an email that said Refund request denied, because I had failed to upload proof of payment. Number 1: WHY do they even need proof of payment when my account has a credit of R4360. Number 2: In order to apply for a refund, one needs to submit your three month bank statement. WHY do they even need this information? What does my current bank balance and what I use my money for have to do with the University. Nevertheless, I once again app**** for a refund and uploaded the proof of payment and all of the required documents on 01 June 2021, only to find out today, on the 30th of June 2021, that my refund request was once AGAIN denied. Because, when I entered my banking details on the website, I had selected Standard Chartered Bank and not Standard bank web. This is absolutely absurd! So I once again, app**** for a refund request, changing my banking details and uploading all of my very personal details. So most likely, at the end of July 2021, my refund request will probably be denied again due to what will it be this time? Weather, COVID, riots??? The University of Johannesburg has handled this matter of my refund absolutely inferiorly and they should be ashamed of their conduct. I will no longer be continuing by studies at this institution when my funding is in place as they obviously do not care for their students but they are very eager to take your money in the first place.
