Terrible service from UJ AND NSFAS for unpaid historic fees 2014/2015
Terrible service from UJ Finance and NSFAS Office.
I have a Financial bock dating back to 2014, when I enquired in 2015 I was given a letter stating that the fees will be settled. It seems this was never done and my account still reflects as in arrears for R72 000. When I asked a lady by the name of Zinhle at APK who said she needs a statement proving that A NSFAS officer created a loan , which I felt was very unreasonable as I do not have control over NSFAS officers not doing their job. She says i am liable for the fees because there was a error with my loan agreement that was never communicated to me, in-fact when i asked the question i was told there is a backlog in payments however my fees will be paid. i have the letter stating this, i sent it to her and she said it's still not sufficient proof. I was told that the lady who issued the letter in 2015 is no longer working at UJ so there is nothing they can do to assist me, how unprofessional and dismissive.
I received a statement from UJ indicating the payments received in 2014 from NSFAS Edu Xtras for accommodation , meals and books, which I believe would not have been processed if there was no agreement or relationship between myself and NSFAS. According to NSFAS head office a loan was only created for 2012, what happened to 2013 which was paid with no hassles? Then in 2014 there is no agreement created, which I signed and gave to NSFAS Officers to do the due diligence and ensure that no student is prejudiced.
The reason we have NSFAS is for students to never go through what I am currently going through, to rest assured and get the much needed assistance from the Government and to pay back at a later stage at a much affordable rate. To my surprise it looks like there are a few students like me who have also been prejudiced to this extent.
It very unfair how we are being treated for things that are not in our control.
