given a study that I did not apply for

A student who just completed her grade 12 app**** for a BCom in Economics and Econometrics Extended degree at the University of Johannesburg. The University was being consistent in responding to her in terms of her application in four different emails, the first saying they acknowledge her application to the University, the second one expressing that she has been provisionally selected for the above qualification she has app**** for, the third one giving her information on registrations to the varsity. After the students final results she recieves the forth email saying she has been accepted into the University for a Diploma in Accounting (Soweto campus). This is very upsetting as well as unprofessional considering that the student did not what so ever apply for a Diploma but for a degree in Economics. How can it be that a student is accepted for a qualification that she did not apply for? This could be a matter of her results however, the student qualifys for the mentioned degree above. The student spoke to well over three different UJ consultants who all agree that she qualifies for the degree she app**** for. Is it fair for the student to be placed in such, whats next for her?
