Unexpected Medical Account After Authorisation Call

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received regarding my daughter.

On the day my daughter was admitted to Die Wilgers Hospital, I contacted Unity Health to confirm cover. I spoke to a consultant who assured me that everything was in order. Based on this information, I proceeded with the treatment and paid R300, understanding that the medical aid would cover the remaining costs. To my surprise, I later received notifications stating that I still owe R801.55. This was never explained to me during my call. Had I been informed that there would be an outstanding amount that the medical aid would not cover, I would have made alternative arrangements or sought further clarification before proceeding. My main concern is not only the outstanding account but the lack of clear communication. Members should be provided with accurate and complete information when they contact the medical aid for assistance. I believe the financial implications should have been explained upfront so that I could make an informed decision. I have raised my concern directly but have not received a satisfactory resolution. I therefore request that Unity Health review this matter, clarify why I was not informed of the additional liability when I called, and provide a fair resolution. I hope this complaint will be taken seriously and addressed promptly.

This situation has caused unnecessary stress and financial burden due to inadequate communication.
