We recently received communication from this company regarding a car finance account we have with Absa. Apparently the account is in arrears and we requested a monthly statement since we have not been receiving it, and monthly installment were being paid. We paid half the required amount of arrears including the current installment, and requested to make an arrangement to get the account uptodate. But the agent who is acting on behalf of Umvelo a Mr. Nlanhla Thwala made it clear that he is not interested in negotiating and his behavior is professional rude and downright harassment. We are looking to find a solution while he is threatening us. What kind of behavior is that. It even raises suspicions that this could be some sinister ways to sell peoples vehicles.

This company acts as if its above the law with their wrongful approach to ABSA clients in arrears over car accounts. Stop collecting cars from clients that are in arrears when you dont have any legal documents. What you are actuallly doing is against the law itself and it is not a legal repossession but a ******* to those lacking an understanding of the law. A voluntary surrender should not be forced like that mostly not on a busy highway. Only a sheriff with a court order is legally authorized to collect cars in arrears but still at an addressed location not on a highway. Their so called car tracker/ collector Brandon Morris attempted to stop me on a very busy M1 highway during the morning peak hours then later when being reported for his wrongful approach and looking for an apology he chose to deny to have done that meaning the story has been fabricated according to him when he knows exactly what he did. Some matters need one to have some well thought common sense when approaching strangers. Being in debt does not mean one has committed a crime and deserves to receive such an improper approach. Debt is not a crime but rather an amount you owe which affects your credit score. Approaching people as if they have committed a crime is wrong. Your unprofessional staff is not above the law.

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the conduct of Thando Ngwenya, a consultant from the Debt Collections Department, reporting to Sibusiso Nhlapo. Thando contacted me in a highly unprofessional and hostile manner. She began the conversation by saying “so you blocked my number now” and immediately followed with insults and threats, including claims that she would send people to repossess a vehicle. At no point did she confirm she was speaking to the correct person. When I asked for clarification, she stated the matter concerned a vehicle account belonging to my mother. Despite this, she did not apologize for wrongly addressing me and instead continued with insults and threats. Her behavior was mocking, abusive, and clearly intended to harass. This conduct is unacceptable and reflects poorly on Umvelo Risk Management. I expect that Sibusiso will take immediate action to address this matter. Should Thando Ngwenya contact me again with false allegations or continue to threaten me, I will be forced to pursue legal action. I urge your office to ensure that consultants confirm client details before making contact and refrain from abusive or threatening behavior. Please confirm in writing what steps will be taken to address this incident.
