Unauthorised transactions

I’m absolutely flabbergasted by Uber’s unprofessionalism. I’m the last person to give a business a bad review online (this is my first time ever doing something like this) but the situation calls for it. I ordered an Uber yesterday morning but cancelled at the last minute due to unavoidable circumstances. The Uber trip would have cost me R52. I was charged a R48 cancellation fee. I can understand Uber needs to compensate those drivers for their time, but it’s not uncommon for Uber drivers to pick up your trip, make their way to you and then cancel right before they get to you. I just think that’s an unfair policy. Secondly, I took an Uber in the afternoon to get to work. The trip was 11km from my house and I was charged R103. One hundred and three rand. As a full time student, that money doesn’t get spent lightly. When I took an Uber back home from work (a trip of 11km), I was charged R58 which came off my card. THEN I wake up this morning to find an additional R80 taken off my account, a transaction I NEVER authorised. So in total, to get to and from work yesterday, Uber charged me R161 plus an unauthorised amount of R80?! Firstly, it’s ******* to make transactions on a consumer’s account without the consumer’s consent or prior knowledge. Secondly, I expect that amount to be refunded to me today. This is absolutely ghastly.
