Uber's lack of customer service

Uber's lack of customer service is startling. Three days ago, my friends and decided to Uber to the beach for a nice day in the sun. We ordered a larger Uber as we were 5 people, and I sat at the very back, which is quite a cramped space. Because of this lack of space, I had to put my beach bag under my feet, which caused my bluetooth earphones to fall out without my noticing. I understand that uber is not responsible for my belongings, but as the case was the same colour as the floor, I didn't see them when I looked at the backseat to ensure I got all of my belongings, a mistake that could happen to anyone. That afternoon, as well as each day since, we have attempted to contact the driver through Uber's services to no avail. We then submitted a request to Uber to get in touch with the driver on our behalf, as that is a function on their app, yet we never heard back from them after giving our contact details. Since the app's functions did not seem to work, we tried calling their customer service line that is listed online, only to discover that the number is not even in service anymore, leaving us without any way to contact their customer service and find out if there is any way for them to contact the driver (as they say the will do on their website if you cannot reach your driver within the allotted 48 hours). I am beyond frustrated by this lack of support from them and feel completely ignored by their customer service, which thus far has consisted primarily of automated messages. Adding a helpline that actually works to their app would have hopefully allowed me to receive support from an employee who may have guided me in the steps to follow, rather than just leaving me to fend for myself with the slim hope that I may somehow get my earphones back.
