Uber will take your money without a ride

We were out on Valentines day. When we wanted to return, no vehicle available at 21.30 on their app., (or their network was off). It did not stop Uber to take the cost of 3 rides when trying to book the ride. We had to finally ask family to pick us up at 22.30. Amazing how you want to be responsible and not consume alcohol and drive, but somehow Uber(or their drivers) finds a way to take your money while you are in a compromised position.
