Uber unprincipled charging

The ride was fine but the charging -

I pre-booked thinking this would make it easier and more reliable. Then I was charged a booking fee which was not mentioned beforehand and 2 minutes before my scheduled pick-up time they increased my rate by 1.5x because of 'high demand'. Based on the time I booked for, they should have been aware of this in advance and should not change quotes at the last minute when I could not make other arrangements. Then my ride arrived 15 minutes later! The whole point of pre-booking was to avoid this.

I complained but was told this was standard policy. Will definitely not be using Uber again.
