Uber theft

My daughter advertised her laptop for sale when she was contacted by a buyer. He sent her a **** proof of payment and sent an Uber driver to collect the laptop.

The Uber driver with cellphone number *** collected the laptop on 6 January. He then let her know that the "buyer" did not have the money to pay him upon delivery and that the "buyer" sent him money via e-wallet which was also ****.

He then asked her to pay for his trip in order to re-deliver the laptop to her. With numerous struggles he could not collect the R200 she paid over.

We then contacted him and asked for banking details to pay over the R200 and give him the balance of R480 for the trip in cash upon his arrival with the laptop. He refuses to give banking details and insists on e-wallet. Never has this been accepted as payment with Uber.

He is now threatening to pawn her laptop for the R680 and send her a slip to collect her laptop from a pawn shop. This is utterly ridiculous service from a so-called Uber driver. He refuses to give banking details for R200 to ensure that he delivers the laptop and does not want to give any details to confirm his affiliation with Uber so that his role at Uber can be confirmed before any money is paid to him. He just insists on e-wallet because he indicated numerous times he is driving a rental car.

How can this be allowed by Uber? That their drivers refuse to return property to a client even with cash on hand to pay upon delivery???????
