Uber SA: Where Your Belongings Magically Disappear

I had the worst experience with an Uber driver named Thabang, who outright stole my cooler box. My friends and I placed it in the boot during the ride, but unfortunately, we forgot to take it out when we arrived. When my friend (who requested the Uber) tried contacting Thabang to retrieve it, he was conveniently unreachable.

After finally getting through to Uber support, they claimed the driver said there was “no cooler box” in his car. Interesting, because we definitely put it in the boot. Uber’s brilliant solution? They suggested we open a case with the police. How exactly is that supposed to help when their own driver—the person they allow on their platform—took my property?

That Flying Fish cooler box was expensive, and I won it, making this even more frustrating. Uber clearly has no real accountability for their drivers, and customers are left powerless when their belongings mysteriously vanish.
