Uber please contact me

Hi Uber,

I do not want to leave a note for you here but you leave me no choice having no real contact details on your site or in your app. I do not have twitter to contact you there. This is the only way.

My bank advised me that you tried to debit my card 103 times in one day amounting to more than ZAR 800 in bank charges.

I was trying to schedule a ride the way you say is possible on your website. So as soon as I saw that you wanted to send me a driver I immediately cancelled within seconds. Do you think it would be a good idea to be clear on which countries or cities can or cannot schedule a ride and before the actual ride is booked there should be an option for 'ride now' or 'shedule a ride'? Even if it is in a country that does not have scheduling you should have this step saying it is not possible to schedule a ride and ask: Do you want to book a ride now?

My bank told me it was Uber who tried to deduct money on the 16th of Feb 2017 103 times from my account. I would've liked to confirm that with you instead of posting on Hello Peter but this seems like the only way to start talking about this issue since there are no other channels by which I can contact you.

I still need rides in 2 days time and 4 days time from somebody yet my banking charges are about the same money I need for the rides. Why 103 times? Your instructions are vague and your app does not allow for scheduling or asking if you are sure you want to book the ride now and not later or whatever. It needs to protect the customer in a situation like this and it doesn't.

Now this is my problem. My bank is not going to give me back the money for all the transaction charges of 103 transactions in a row on 1 day... Obviously Uber did not get the ZAR800 so that can't go as credit on my Uber account. I never used Uber since I cancelled immediatly when I tried to schedule 2 rides and only realised the vagueness of Uber's instructions to late.

1. I would like an explanation on why you tried to debit my card 103 times in a row on one day?

2. If you refer me to your terms that protect you will you please just explain to me as well why you did not contact me if you wanted to debit my account 103 times in one day amounting in such a huge loss in banking charges?

3. Also explain why you say it is possible to schedule a ride but for me a first time Uber user, not knowing what the next step will bring on your app, I was quite surprised that there was no such option but only a 'now ride' I did not expect at all? I stay in Cape Town and was trying to Schedule a ride in Johannesburg. Do you think I would try to book a 'now' ride?

If the option in the app is 'book a ride' my question would be: Is the scheduling option going to be on the next page? I hope so because Uber vaguely mentions that ons their website so I would assume they would look out for me and the drivers. Surely the scheduling option must be in one of the steps...

Thank you very much.

Regards,

Ettienne Lane
