UBER NOW WORKING ON ESTIMATES AND NOT ACTUALS

<p>For the last 12 months I have been Ubering from my boyfriends house in Illovo to my work in Rivonia which is exactly 9.1kms and takes around 20mins give or take whether there is traffic or not. This is my preferred route and I always direct the driver as I know it is shorter and less traffic so the fare will be cheaper than if we follow the GPS. This trip for the last 12 months has cost me between R92 - R98 depending on traffic. This is because Uber used to determine their fare on the KM's travelled and the time spent in their vehicle. Today I made the exact same trip - it took me 19mins which is shorter than usual. As I booked the vehicle I noticed there was a fare estimate of R139 which I thought must be based on a different route and thus my fare would remain at R92 because there is no way that my fare would go up by R50 for the same route I always travel. Upon completing my trip I checked my account and alas - R139 had come off my card. Uber are useless as you cannot contact them on the phone so all correspondence has been via email and their only replies to me have been "We based your fare accurately on an estimate" - but this is NOT accurate. Based on the fee per km and time spent in the vehicle my fare should have been R92!! That is the actuals!! So now they are charging through an estimate rather than what the facts are!! I'm so sick and tired of this service. There is another app type taxi service called Jozibear and they are cheaper than Uber and hopefully more reliable and they have a contact number. I will be switching my services and I recommend that other people do the same. They do not give one hoot about their customers nor their drivers. </p>
