Uber left single woman stranded
As a single woman in South Africa I make sure that I am safe and secure with my decisions. Uber let me down 100% on 1 January 2025. I had booked an Uber 3 days in advance to collect me from a coastal town to be sure that I would have a safe lift home from my new year's eve celebrations. I booked the Uber for 11.00am on 1 January 2025. It was at 11.00am on 1 January, having booked my safe ride home, that it became clear my ride home had been cancelled. The money had left my account 3 days before and I had been sent a confirmation of booking. The result? I, a single, responsible woman had been left high and dry in a remote town with no way home. I, and all of my friends, are appalled at this lack of safety and security as as single woman. What is worse is ,the complete ring fence of my distress call for a new driver. Shame on you Uber! Your R100 voucher did not account for my safety or getting home. As a single woman do not count on this service...even planning wisely 3 days ahead. You can not count on them.
