Uber is allowed to bring their partner along for trips?

So according to Uber , it is alright for the driver to go a longer route to fetch their partner to bring them with on the trip? Dont worry you will still be charged extra for the extra distance but we shouldn't mind? For a 3.5kms distance away and it takes you 17minutes?
