Uber Eats charged me for food that was given to wrong person
As a regular customer of Uber Rides and Uber Eats I am frustrated with lack of help from Uber Help. On 09 May 2024 the Restaurant gave my R920 order to wrong driver. My driver said nothing he can do and said I should cancel my order. Uber Eats charged me in full for cancelation and all my efforts to get a refund have proved futile. Screenshots of all my Uber Help attempts and the driver confirming I must cancel. Had to get my partner to order again and collect from Restaurant. This is not ethical business practice. I should not be charged for Restaurant's error. Sent several requests to Uber Help including screenshots of evidence. First complaint was within an hour of cancelation. At that time hey rep**** saying someone was investigating and they would get back to me. When I tried to follow up wih Uber Help a wek later they said it was more than 48hrs and too late to request refund, yet I reuested refund immediately via Chatbot and UberHelp. I have since complained via their Internet help site, their social media page but Uber clearly hides behind technology when something goes wrong. You cannot speak to a person for answers. The order was for nurses at Paediatric Oncology ward at Donald Gordon Medical Centre in celebration of World Nurses Day. I am very disappointed with the lack of accountability. Surely customers cannot be charged when a Restaurant makes an error. We had waited more than an hour and the driver was clear that my order had gone out to the wrong driver and the Restaurant said they did not have an order to hand over to him. I'd like my money back. That is a large sum of money that we had to spend on he 2nd order when Restaurant messed up the first time.
