Uber Drivers Greedy and Selective and cancel trips at their own discretion

I find it absolutely appalling how the Uber drivers in the deep south of Cape Town can pick and choose which drives they want to take. I've spoken with loads of people in the Fish Hoek and surrounds and we've all been experiencing the exact same issues. I often need an Uber to and from my kids school as we sold our second car as I work from home and my husband works from home most days too. I need and Uber to and from the school (morning and afternoon, often 2 afternoon trips are required as the kids do sport). I try to get and Uber and can see loads of drivers in the area for the different drives but NOT ONE driver will accept my trip. Last week I was standing with my kids and all the sports stuff trying to get an Uber home with them - one driver accepted my trip and then cancelled. He did it TWICE! I tried every Uber option available and couldn't get a single driver to accept (even though they were all in the area). Our mechanic's wife told us that one of their staff knows a few Uber drivers and said they don't accept the shorter trips because they're waiting for the bigger ones! I find it really disappointing as I really thought Uber was a godsend for us in SA (since our public transport is just non-existent/unsafe/unreliable). And the sad part is that I usually give them a really good tip because I think they're a valuable service and good for our economy, plus they're saving me and my kids a rather tiring walk home, particularly since I work from home and can't really afford to be away from my laptop for too long. So sad how greed can affect people to this extend. And a real shame that I wasn't able to bring my issues directly to the attention of Uber themselves since I just couldn't find any contact details for them (I wanted my complaint in writing). Doubt they'd do anything about it, but always worth a try. If they could look at my history in my Uber app they'd see how many trips I had to cancel because none of their drivers would accept any of my rides.
