Uber Drivers Dangerous or **********?
I do not have an uber account but went into uber Johannesburg via my pc. I requested a trip from Roodepoort to OR Tambourine airport for 2 young ladies who work for me. It gave me a rate of R430 and said that if I get no email or sms within 20 minutes to phone Norman on ***. After an hour and no email or sms, I phoned him and he confirmed the amount, the pick up time at 6:30 am and the reference GNS/Norman and that he would be driving a Mercedes.

As he ran late, the young lady phoned him and was told he could not find her address. After a while he realised that he was in Florida and not Roodepoort. He then started arguing with her, saying that the amount was not R430 but over R600.

When he eventually arrived, he had another man in the car with him, which he said was there to give him directions. At this point the ladies became extremely uncomfortable and decided not to drive with them.

Luckily I had given her cash and had never given my card details.

There is no number to contact Uber and you need to log in to report a problem which I cannot do without an account.

Were they really Uber driver's?
This is fishy & I am glad they declined. This seemed DANGEROUS!!!!
Please can you send an email to supportjoburg@uber,com with more details as to how you booked the trip. When trips are booked on the Uber platform you are not sent an email or sms and we do not suggest that you phone the driver. All information would have been displayed on the website (m.uber.com). Importantly, when booking trips on the Uber platform - all cars are made through a central number - driver and rider phone numbers are not provided for privacy reasons.
Please provide us with more details so that we can urgently investigate this further.
