Uber driver lies to the police
A few weeks ago I reported to Uber that one of their drivers had picked up my boyfriend from our home and dropped him off at his destination. Instead that being the conclusion of that encounter, Uber's driver went back to the place where he had dropped off my boyfriend with the police claiming that my boyfriend had ****** him of R500 and his cell phone.
My boyfriend was visiting his friends and to have the police come and accuse him of such behaviour was embarrassing. My boyfriend insisted on his innocence and the driver's cell phone was found in his possession - clearly he **** and was either looking for attention / bored with his life / thought he would get a pay off.
All I have had is "we are investigating the matter" from the representatives of Uber. I still continue to use Uber despite their lack of efficiency regarding getting to the bottom of this matter and providing me with feed and despite that I now know that their drivers are money hungry and will do anything for it.
You would think that someone would have gotten back to me by now... Nope! Instead where I reported the matter has been archived (on app) the email I received from them I cannot continue with the thread. Now it seems like Uber expected me to just let it go or that I would forget that THEIR driver embarrassed my boyfriend in front of our friends and he was harassed by the police. If the driver had been clever about where to hide his money and phone and my boyfriend been arrested and we would have had to pay bail / get a lawyer / my boyfriend facing a ******** record? What would Uber say / do?
I am greatly disappointed with Uber and the way they handled this matter. Is this how customers are treated? After that ordeal my boyfriend only uses Taxify.
The transport industry is a competitive one and Uber really should be more mindful of it's loyal customers.
