Uber choice of unsafe routes

On several occasions now I have used Uber to transport me from OR Tambo Airport to Midrand and the drivers on each occasion told me that it is Uber policy to choose the back roads (R21) to take passengers home and not the safer N3 freeway. This endangers the passengers lives as there are many ********s lurking on this route especially at night and its worse when there is load shedding and the traffic lights are offline. I searched and made many enquiries for a customer care line for UBER but it does not appear that they have one which leads me to believe that they are not customer centric. One is allowed to complain on the trip via the APP but this is to say negative things about the drivers not about Uber. Uber would need to stop directing the route through dangerous paths/backroads and start allowing freeways to be used by the Uber drivers in South Africa. Passenger lives are being put at risk.
