Uber & Bolt services

Bolt and Uber: Daylight ******* Gosh! Both these companies rip us off. Issues I have with both these companies are: 1) You make your selection (in my case always the cheapest option and the smallest car). What do you get? Cars of all shapes and sizes, some quite noisy and you think the vehicle may fall apart. Also, the cost then changes drastically and is MUCH MORE than you signed up for, but what can you do? You are in a vice. You have no other option you must pay up to get the transport you need. 2) Then you have to add a tip as well. Whether you were happy with the service rendered or not. One driver told me that he received tips in the region of R350. Did he really think I was going to pay him that amount after a trip in a defunct vehicle?? 3) Some drivers are more involved with their cell phones than checking the route or considering the safety of their passengers. 4) There is such haste to get the next call-out that nothing else seems to matter. 5) If you have baggage they will not help as time is money and your battling is of no concern as it means you will be charged extra. Bolt is guiltier of this. Uber drivers are a bit more dignified, respectable and helpful. 6) A Bolt driver sped off and I was quickly sent a cancellation fee when the driver left me abandoned. I refused to pay for this. Was I supposed to jump into traffic to get his attention even though I did whatsapp him my location? 7) Finally, when you no longer need their services they bombard you with emails ad infinitum. Even if you unsubscribe, the emails and “deals” keep coming. 8) Try getting help is an impossibility. You can be stranded on the side of the road, but no person will take a call. Everything has to whatsapped, etc. Imagine that, in this dangerous country you must use AI? Oh please! I suppose I should not say “never again”, but who knows I might have to make use of their services again. However, for more regular use a rental car is a much better and cheaper option or… those two-seater orange taxis will do. R.Randall-Taylor
