UBER - ASSAULT COMPLAINT
I was ***UALLY ASSAULTED by my UBER DRIVER last year. I could not find an email or phone number for customer support in South Africa, so I used the only support service uber offers: the in-app chat. I COMPLAINED and gave all details. Uber messaged me and they refunded me the trip money which was R42 (this is equivalent to $2.55). I later messaged to see what the outcome was. I wanted the driver to be FIRED. How could Uber keep someone like that as one of their drivers, to assault another person in the future? To this, Uber responded with what seems like an AUTOMATED RESPONSE saying they cannot give details about the outcome of this complaint because they need to respect the privacy of the driver (UBER SEEMS TO BELIEVE THAT THE PERSON WHO ASSAULTED ME DESERVES MORE RESPECT THAN I DO). I messaged Uber many times since then, and they always send the same automated response. I went back to my drivers profile and I see he is STILL DRIVING for Uber as he has received reviews from people that occurred in the last month. UBER CUSTOMER SUPPORT DID NOTHING TO HELP ME, gave me NO INFORMATION on the topic, DISRESPECTED me as a person and I realised that my worth as a human was reduced to less than 3 dollars. WOW, THANKS UBER FOR THE REFUND BUT MAYBE NEXT TIME DO SOMETHING THAT IS ACTUALLY HELPFUL?
