**** promo practices

I am a Discovery Insure member with Gold Vitality status, so have a 25% discount promotion linked to my Uber account (valid until January 2017 with discounts of up to R250 per month valid). On Friday afternoon, I took an Uber ride from Welgedacht Estate to Stellenbosch. On entering the vehicle, I checked my active promotions - and the only one there was the Discovery 25% off voucher - which I tried to click/ensure was selected (for good measure), but that screen has no hyper links. Towards the end of the trip, I noticed another R1 off for the month of July (whoopee!) promotion mysteriously appear on my account - without any action on my part, and again I saw that I was unable to click on either promotion to select one or the other, so assumed it was an additional "gift". When I checked my invoice later that evening, I saw my fare of R411 had only the R1 promotion taken off (instead of the R102 Discovery discount), so the total charged was R410. I immediately contacted Uber to let them know that they had not included the active Discovery promotion to my fare. I got a very helpful/friendly response with links to their FAQs saying that only one promotional code - and only the most recent one on your profile would be app****. And, as in my case this had been the R1 off promotion, that is what had been used. But, they told me, my Discovery one could be used for my next trip as it remains on my profile and active until next year. I rep**** that they should please reverse the unrequested R1 discount off my account immediately and give me the Discovery promotional discount of R102 that I am eligible for. I got another friendly response saying this is not possible and I should use the Discovery promotion for my next ride. I have since sent numerous emails expressing my dissatisfaction with this issue, but no one replies anymore and there are no telephone contact details I can find.

This is is ridiculous and clearly a **** of sorts - sending someone who is completely eligible for a R102 discount a new and unsolicited promotional discount of R1 during their trip - without allowing them to choose which promotion they would like to make use of, and then refusing to rectify it when the customer contacts them within 2 hours of their trip to ask them to do so is shocking to me. I can't understand how they can think this type of practice would be acceptable and reasonable to their customers?

Reviewer Update

They refunded my R103 earlier today. Thanks for listening, Uber...
