********** by Nqobizetha Mduduzi - Uber Driver and the finance team from uber
I was wrongfully charged by the under driver called Nqobizitha Mduduzi. As I requested last week Saturday, my destination was to get to Vilakazi Street. This driver then went to Florida and I was charged for going to "Florida" but I was not in that care.
The Uber support when I reported this advised that I will be charged R37 which was the correct price, but instead I was charged R97 which is already debited from my account, not showing on "pending".
Everytime I report this, I am sent a long "robot response" like the below: statement is showing an authorization hold. This is a standard banking practice where a temporary hold is placed on funds in your account without an actual charge. This helps confirm that your payment method is valid. Please be assured that Uber voids this hold immediately but it may take up to two weeks for it to disappear from your bank statement depending on your bank’s policy.
Sometimes when the fare is changed from the upfront price that was shown to you at the beginning of the trip to the fare that is shown on your receipt, an authorization hold might show up on your statement for the difference between these prices. The final fare that is shown on your receipt will be the amount that’s charged and the authorization hold will disappear.
You may see this authorization hold as pending on your bank statements, but the amount has not been charged from your bank account. Please be assured that you will only be charged the final fare amount for your trip.
I have sent screenshots showing where I got off, showing when the payment was still pending and now showing that it was debited from my account. I called yesterday and was given a "20:06" as a reference (lol) very funny.
I am being unnecessarily ********** by Uber and it is very unfair because I thought it is a safer app to use (nonsense).
