Overcharged

I requested Uber van for my employees(6 people). The ride costed R471 which was debited same time. When the driver made a drop off i saw a bank notification that uber is trying to debit R1035. I sent them an email and they said they won't do any adjustments as the time and distance matches that money. My question is why didn't they charge me that amount when i was requesting. Didn't they check the distance before? I asked the driver about it and he said, "Askies"
