Missing payments For driver & unresolved Issues
this is a formal complaint against Uber South Africa for their failure to pay outstanding earnings to my driver, ignoring multiple support requests, and their lack of accountability regarding vehicle damage caused by an Uber rider.
Issue Summary: My driver has not received his weekly earnings for the following weeks: • Week of 11 March 2025 • Week of 18 March 2025 (Uber initially promised to pay during this week but never did) • Week of 25 March 2025 • Week of 1 April 2025
Uber has ignored repeated inquiries from both me and my driver. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the matter, Uber has failed to pay the owed amounts or provide any meaningful updates.
Attempts to Resolve the Issue: 1. My driver first contacted Uber on 11 March, and they promised to call back and process payment—this never happened.
2. Uber assured payment would be made in the week of 18 March, but it did not happen.
3. I logged a formal request through a link Uber provided on 29 March—they still have not responded.
4. I have reached out on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Uber’s support channels, but they have ignored all my messages.
5. Uber has not even sent a courtesy email acknowledging the issue or providing an estimated resolution date. Additional Issue: Vehicle Damage Without Compensation In addition to withholding earnings, Uber has failed to compensate me for R783 in damages caused by a rider who broke my car.
Consequences of Uber’s Negligence Due to these missing payments, I am now facing eviction for missing my second rent payment. Uber’s failure to release these funds has placed me in an extremely difficult financial situation.
Request for Urgent Action:
I am seeking the following immediate actions from Uber South Africa:
1. Full payment of all outstanding earnings owed to my driver.
2. A formal response explaining the cause of these delays and a commitment to prevent such issues in the future.
3. Compensation for the R783 vehicle damage caused by an Uber rider.
4. A clear escalation process when Uber fails to respond to driver concerns.
