Misleading Communication – Uber Durban Driver Requirements

Dear HelloPeter Team,

I am a driver in Durban using the Uber App. In Feb 2026, Uber South Africa published an official update titled “Great News! Important Updates for Durban”. This announcement was shared via the Uber Driver App and Help Centre after the February roundtable discussion.

The update clearly stated:

“CarScan now accepted for vehicle inspections”

Simplified document requirements (Driving Evaluation removed, double‑disc upload removed).

New flexibilities (90‑day grace period on insurance, vehicles from 2014 now qualify).

Despite this, Uber’s live chat support continues to decline my CarScan inspection, directly contradicting their own published communication. This is misleading and unfair to Durban drivers who rely on Uber’s official updates to comply with requirements.

I request that Uber be held accountable for:

Publishing misleading “Great News” updates that are not honored in practice.

Wasting drivers’ time and money by rejecting CarScan inspections after announcing acceptance.

Clarifying and correcting their requirements publicly to prevent further confusion.

Attached is the official Uber communication screenshot showing the “Great News” update.

Thank you for assisting in holding Uber accountable for misleading Durban drivers.
