Lost items in Uber

So I left one of my bags with my work uniforms in it a few hours ago. I tried contacting the driver through Uber and I didn’t get through. I then tried again for the next hour and Uber has given me absolutely help or no means of contacting the driver. Why can’t we contact drivers directly in Uber situations like this? This is ridiculous. I have work in a few hours and no way of contacting the driver outside of the app. Uber needs to better their services
