Lost item not returned

I forgot my wallet in the Uber and contacted them as soon as I realized it was missing. I was connected with the driver, who confirmed that he was in possession of my wallet. It has now been two weeks since the incident and I still have not received my lost item back despite being in contact with Uber on a daily basis and despite the driver confirming that the item is with him. I was even willing to pay te fee for the return of a lost item, but yet nothing seems to be done from Uber. This is the most disappointing service I have received.
