How much can you really trust your Uber driver? And how concerned are they about your safety and property.

<p>Myself and a friend took an Uber with strangers after a night out as both our phones where flat and we were unable to request a cab, needless to say stranded in the middle of nowhere, under the influence and definitely not able to think rationally. After taking the Uber we realised that both our phones has been left in the cab and there is no way of getting hold of the driver. The driver however phoned us from one of the phones the next day saying he was going to return the phones we should meet him in Midrand. We ended up going to the location and when we tried to get hold of him again he switched the phone off. We then decided to block the phones and when doing so our service provider notified us that more than a R1000 worth of international calls has been made from the device. I tried to get in contact with Uber but they treat this as a minor incident saying there is nothing they can do and if they hear anything they will let us know. I provided them with the date, time, car model, place, even the first two letters on the cabs number plate but they say that they can nott track the driver. I do not believe this at all. I hope the driver gets arrested when he sells the phones.</p>
