Hijacking
The below ia my sister in law experience she raised a complaint on the 17th May 2021 and had not received a response as yet. To whom it may concern
I am disgusted in the service or lack thereof which I have received from Uber. I have reported the most traumatic experience of my life which I have encountered on Friday the 7th of May, where I was nearly hijacked by an Uber driver. It is shocking to note that such a serious, life threatening incident could be treated as something so insignificant that I havent even received a call from yourselves to date. This incident has left me in such a state that It has drastically affected my attendance at work for the last week, due to my fear of long commutes with Uber or bolt, which was a service I frequented for several years . Not only have I been affected by this experience but my entire family, especially my kids who had to witness the frantic calls between myself and my husband as I attempted to explain through tears and short gasps of breath , what just happened to me, followed by them picking me up on the N1(where I had walked back to from the R300) on an early winter's evening, soaking wet, shaking and traumatized.
I would honestly have expected even just a call from yourselves, but the lack of human factor and concern is absolutely worrisome as you are a business delivering a service to clients, and if the client and his or her safety is not your primary concern (which having at first hand experienced the latter, I can safely say, YOU COULDN'T CARE THE SLIGHTEST BIT FOR YOUR CLIENTS ). Despite the post traumatic affects I have been experiencing, I thank God I am alive and safe because it could have been so different as we are living in an evil world, where humam trafficking, **** and ****** are rife and are the top few pushing our crime statistics to the frightening high that it is.
My other concern is that the driver who tried to hijack me was a very depressed person , as he clearly stated to me at the beginning of our commute , when I asked how his day was, and I quote verbatim "I dont want to depress you with how my day was, things are really tough in this market, I'm not making enough money to even get by, wouldn't you like to go in business with me", I rep**** (after thinking what the heck, who says that) , "no thank you, I love my job"..... he continued going on and on and on about his sad life, at this point I then withdrew from the conversation and just looked down, and started focusing on my phone, trying to share my trip and as I look up I realise that the driver took the R300 turnoff the N1, (now for all the years I have been travelling with uber and bolt, never have I experienced this, where the driver takes the R300), (also, part of our initial conversation at the start of our trip, when he asked me where I'm going, I said Northpine,he then said "oh yes I know where that is") , when I realised I was on the wrong road, i asked him where his going and to please stop the car, at this point he then picked up speed , and said I'm taking you where the map is showing me, i said please stop, and proceeded to open the door where I was sitting whilst he was speeding, he then, with an aloof glance on his face, slowed the vehicle down and I could jump off on the R300. He then drove off, I ended up walking in the rain , down the R300 offramp back to the N1, where I could call my family to fetch me. I proceeded to the police station to make a case, (CAS details attached). I also received a call from "verify" who advised me that the vehicle actually belongs to someone else, which just furthr goes to show that Uber does not care about the safety of their clients. We now have a depressed, hijacker and God forbid ******er on the loose, driving your other clients and Uber just couldn't be bothered.
Please do note that, not because of malice, but out of sheer concern for the rest of the uber clients, I will unfortunately not be leaving it like this.
Regards
