Goods vanished into thin air (Uber)

Hi

I have a big problem.

I took a ride using Uber on a Sunday the 28th of November from Randburg to Soweto I had alot of luggage and items i took with on the trip.

I arrived home safely and i offloaded my luggage and belongings and the driver took it upon himself to assist. I took my first load and he came with the last load and said that was it and we parted ways.

The next morning when i checked everything i realized that one plastic bag was missing. I immediately tried to contact the driver using Uber app and i failed numerous times. I eventually contacted Uber and they said i should wait atleast 24hours. I did and the driver got back to me two days later only to tell me he will check with the car wash where he took his car.

My question is ,Does Uber not have procedures in place for drivers to check their cars before and after taking a trip with a client?

Does a driver not inspect and check their car before taking it for a car wash? I kept on reaching out to him for updates and nothing. I continued to reach out since the belongings that got lost are worth R2100.

He got back to me roughly between 12 - 24hours telling me the guys from the car wash said they never saw anything.

And he expects me to say ooh well that is it then

Nooo Uber is a respectable business. I do not think clients should now be scared to ride with items thinking they might get ****** or ******. Which in my case seems like they were ******. I am not getting any help from Uber regarding the matter and how it will be resolved. Its as if its my fault they got ******..i should have not come with any items in the car. I truly believed that Uber was the most safest and responsible e-hailing service.

I want my item back or Uber/driver must take responsibility. If it was an item worth R200 maybe i might have turned a blind eye.

My concern is that if the matter is left without being resolved it means whatever happened with my ****** belonging ,Uber supports it because they are affiliated with the partner driver.

I am in pain and im suffering. I really do not know how to handle all of this.

Can someone please help me. I have tried all the avenues i know.

At the end of the day i payed the services they offered to me. I do not owe them. I was a responsible rider. I obeyed all their rules and regulations when taking a ride. But in the end i seem as if i was irresponsible with my belongings and it will eventually seem as if its my fault that they magically vanished into thin air and i must just live with it and move on.

I do not think that is fair at all. Hence why i am asking for assistance. It is my valuable items that vanished.
