Farewell Uber, Helloooo Bolt!

Uber South Africa - Ethekwini to be specific - on my most recent trip with Uber I selected an option that "costs" R 155.00 I was charged a total of R 292.00.... here is what happened:

R155.00 - charge for the distance R 10 - base fare (a what??) R 8 - booking fee (this should perhaps be included in your price for the trip) R 39 - for "time" R 80 - tip (which is double because your app had an error...)

I asked that the R 39 for "time" and R 40 of the tip be refunded to me, Uber came back to me and said R 57 will be refunded. I didn't want to go back and forth, so I accepted this, but surprise, surprise it is not refunded to my account yet.

This review is not about the R 57 - quite honestly, you can keep it. It is purely about the principle of the whole situation, which I will break down for you.

You charged me an additional fee for "time" which I assume is a penalty when a driver waits for you. If this is the case, I did not make him wait, I in fact waited for him, because he had to stop at a filling station for fuel (which I didn't have a problem with), but why am I being charged a penalty?

Secondly, I explained that the tip should be R 40, but the app glitched and it charged me double that amount. I asked that this can be corrected, which I assume is a part of the R57 you said you will refund... I have no idea how you came to the R 57 as you never told me.

After explaining this to Uber they only said that they are sorry for their driver using an undesirable route.... this is not at all what my complaint was about - my issue was not with your driver, it was with your charges. I expected to pay R 155 for the trip and R40 as a tip (R 195) but I ended up paying R 292 - this is why I am unhappy.

I had to come here and get the point across, because I could not respond to your message on the app, and I can't seem to find an email address for Uber.

Last thing - I have been picked up by many of your drivers whose cars are in a state. Maybe do more thorough inspections on the upkeep. I have NEVER had this problem with Bolt, who by the way also never over charges me, because they are upfront with their fees.
