Extremely Unhappy with Uber – Incorrect Deduction of R967 Instead of R82
I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received from Uber.
I requested a trip that was quoted at R82.00, but to my shock, Uber deducted R967.00 from my bank account. This was a serious and unacceptable error.
Due to this incorrect deduction, I had to report the matter to my bank, First National Bank (FNB), who then cancelled my card and initiated an investigation to protect my funds.
Uber initially attempted to process a refund; however, the refund failed because my card had been cancelled as a direct result of their error. After reactivating and updating my card details, I contacted Uber again through their secure chat and informed them that they could now process the refund back to my bank card.
To my disappointment, I was then told that it is not possible to refund the money to my card and that I can only use the R967.00 as Uber Wallet credit for future rides.
This is completely unacceptable. Uber was initially willing to refund the amount to my bank account, but now they are refusing and forcing me to use the money in their wallet system. R967.00 is a significant amount of money, and I should not be compelled to use it for future services due to an error that was not mine.
I expect Uber to take full responsibility and refund my money back to my bank account immediately.
Very disappointed with the way this matter has been handled.
