Due to Surge (4 times normally fee), stranded at home, late for work

this morning I was about o book uber for work (2km from my home) and instead of the normal R40 it was R161 then a minute later R151.

I had to frantically call a neighbor to take me to work, for which I was late, as the neighbor did me a favor. As I rely on uber for going to and from work daily (6 days a week) I can not budget for these exorbitant prices, and all the while there were visibly 4 uber drivers less than 500 m from my house.

Uber responded saying the surge is used to draw drivers to my area - but they were already there in the first place, waiting for me...
