Drivers Abusing the Surge Pricing System

Last Saturday, at around 1pm, I wanted to take an Uber from our home in Lonehill, through to the Dome for the Good Food and Wine show.
Surge pricing was in effect, so we decided to wait till it ended to call an Uber. After about an hour and half of waiting, the surge pricing eventually ended, so we called the Uber. For about 10 min the driver did not move, so we called him, he said the app was not giving him directions, can we please cancel and re-request. We did so, only to find surge pricing had come into effect again. So we gave up and took a car. If this was the only time this happened I could let it go, but this was the third time this has happened in recent weeks.
Drivers are deliberately forcing customers into paying surge pricing if they see it come into effect after they have already accepted a trip. Dont get me wrong, i love Uber, but I for one will not use the service again until this issue is addressed.
A simple way to do this, would be to shield a user from surge pricing for 30min after a trip has been accepted. This would stop the drivers from being able to abuse the system.
