So, I ordered food, from the |UberEats app, as I have done multiple times before, only to realise ( as I clicked 'order') that the app had changed my address, for some reason. I immediately contacted the driver to tell him, while trying to find a way to rectify the address issue. . However, after fruitlessly searching the app for help, (the FAQs didn't provide an answer) or a chatbot (there was none) I finally managed to change the address on the main UberEats site , only to discover it didn't reflect on the order. contacting the driver again, he suggested I cancel the order, as it was logged on his route as the wrong address. However, by then, it was too late to cancel without losing my money. I begged the driver to bring the food past after he'd done the other deliveries ( as I'd sent him my actual address), but watched him on the map drive to the place the app had put as my address, before it obviously cut out, as it 'showed' the food had been delivered. I tried to call him to see if he would bring it past, but he simply ignored my calls. So between an app that just arbitrarily changes addresses, drivers that ***** people's food, and the fact that I'm a hundred bucks down and still starving, I can safely say that after this experience, I will NEVER use Uber in any way again. Bolt is cheaper for the transport, and - while I have some issues with them too - there is also Mr Delivery, so I certainly don't need a company that has clearly adapted too well to South Africa - nothing works as it should, and the staff ***** when they can!
