UberEats Blind Faith in Rogue Drivers

Condoning or defending blatant thieving cannot in any democratic society be justified. Last night (09 November 2024) I ordered a meal and was charged via the UberEats app. At 19H34 the driver Milton Lee registration LM32NYGP claimed he had arrived. I told him to call the guardhouse of the estate. Literally two minutes later. I received a message saying "Enjoy your order" marking the delivery as complete. The guard at the guardhouse post reported that no Uber Delivery guy had arrived. I immediately called him - the driver -to ask where is and he ignored my more than 10 phone calls that followed. I complained to UberEats several times and they say the driver or third party was adhering to their policy. Which policy, because the terms and conditions I acceded to speak to the payment of goods and services that are in fact rendered; especially when all conditions are met - such as being at the delivery address and not making the driver wait beyond a stipulated waiting period. UberEats is actually condoning blatant theft by allowing a delivery driver to claim he was at my premises and I was uncommunicative, by refusing to refund me.

Mind you, this is not my first such rodeo with UberEats, it's almost become par for the course for drivers to claim they have delivered the food or that you have gone beyond the allowed waiting period. Dear UberEats, if I want to volunteer to run a feeding scheme, I will readily do so of my own volition, but I won't be forced to hand over my money with the promise of goods and services to be rendered and have these conditions NOT met! This behaviour is diabolical and has become endemic under your witting blind eyes. I have family members and friends who have reported this growing trend too.

I do hope HelloPeter has the good conscience to print my real lived experience and not refuse to under the guise that I used the word theft, which is the accurate and factual description of my experience.
