UBEREATS ******* ****

*******! *******! *******!

On a Sunday evening I ordered Ocean Basket's platter for one from the Sunninghill branch via the UberEATS app (#01E7B) to the value of R500 where guaranteed time of delivery was 21:10, but before then you have estimated time at first was 20:10 then moved to 20:30, 20:45 and so on. At 21:10 the guaranteed time moved to 21:40. At this stage I phoned the restaurant try establishing what is causing the delay and no one answers. I panic and google the restaurant's operating time and realize they would have closed at 20:30. I am hopeless since I can't get to the restaurant, but my order has also not been allocated a driver, so I have no way of contacting anyone in this regard.

My common sense at this stage says cancel the order to avoid having a roaming order that has not been allocated at a store that would have been closed. That would seem like the logical thing to do. And I receive a message on the APP that refunds take anything between 3 - 7 days. The next morning UberEATS sends me an invoice to advise me that I am actually charged for the order and no refund will apply.

I phone in and explain my story, and all five consultants that assisted me agree that it shouldn't have been my fault and that I did right my cancelling an order, but then refers me to some automated email response that blatantly refused to even consider my case 5x. I tried contacting the restaurant try get to a solution, I even said if I am not getting my money back can I please then have my food - even that did not work. The restaurant points me to UberEATS since they are the ones who allocate drivers and all, and apparently on their end they wait for UberEATS to allocate a driver to them. Meanwhile UberEATS says no, we cannot refund you because the restaurant accepted the order already. I get that, but if the restaurant would have closed at 20:30 and no driver was allocated at 21:10 (guaranteed time) what hope was I to have that my order would be delivered that night. mind you my kids and I went to bed having resorted to drinking tea and bread and I would be seen by UberEATS as someone who would have willingly donated my R500 to both Uber and Ocean Basket because there is more where that came from. Utter *******!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not see why I have to be charged for something that was not my fault. Maybe I should have left the order to roam and see if it gets delivered the next day...? Maybe!? UberEATS will see no client in me ever!! Trash.
