A friend in the Philippines ordered 2 sushi platters in Cape Town, South Africa as a gift on 11/03/2024. The driver informed her that he arrived and she then contacted me. I was literally 2 minutes away from home and said that he should please wait. As I cut the call, I took the corner and nobody was there. The driver informed my friend in the Philippines that he is going to leave the food on the pavement. He took a photo and uploaded it. The photo that he took was definitely in front of my house but: 1) he didn't leave the food there 2) the food in the photo was not our food because she ordered 2 platters of sushi and the food in the pic are 2 little containers of food. He must have heard that my friend is a foreigner because she when she called him, he said that she must give him R100 and he'll bring the food back. I then made a call and he first told me that he left the food on the pavement and then afterwards he said that he's in another suburb and then afterwards, he said that I must give him R100 and he'll bring the food back. What kind of service is this?? Since when do drivers ****** money like this from people. This was clearly not his first time because he was calm and told me not to make my problem his problem. Needless to say, I was so angry. My friend lost her money and we didn't get the sushi!!! UberEats is supposed to be the most trusted delivery service but I now think otherwise.
