3 Times I have received cold food from uber eats and its drivers this year. Three times I have received cold food or otherwise waited for up to 2 hours for food to be delivered when its waiting for collection at the desired resturant I ordered from.
The first time, I thought it was the drivers fault, cause they probably complete a order when collecting it ( which this driver actually did do) so that they can collect other orders and complete multiple orders at the same time. Btw, this driver called me from the restaurant to confirm my address, when he came to my house he asked from which restaurant I had ordered, the food arrived at my house so cold that it was as if it was 2 days old. When the driver arrived at my house, he has 3 other KFC orders with him. I ordered McDonalds! I understand how batching orders work but don't do it when resturants and the delivery address's are far and wide in between!
I reported this to Uber eats and all I received was "We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about this. I understand it’s frustrating when you’re expecting a dish to come at a certain temperature and it doesn’t.
Please note that orders are sometimes batched with other orders to increase efficiency for restaurants and delivery partners. From your app you can check the estimated time of delivery and get in touch with the delivery partner if necessary.
Thank you for your understanding."
The second time the above happened again! I had ordered sushi from Asami's and the order was waiting for my driver to collect it. The driver was in a different suburb delivering orders. I was thinking ok, maybe its a busy day. Instead he arrives at Asami's 30 minutes later, and takes 1 hour to deliver it to us because guess what, this driver is also delivering to several other suburbs! NOT OUR SUBURB! The sushi got to us in shambles!
Guess what! I reported this to uber eats and AGAIN they send me the response above.
Earlier this week, I had forgotten to take food to work. So I thought let me try to order steers which is litterally 5 minutes down the road from us. I thought to myself "Don't do this to yourself, just go and get it yourself". But I was so busy with work, I thought I would just give it a try.
At 13:00 I placed my steers prince cheer burger with chips. Something to look forward too as it only totals at R110 with service and delivery fees. (I forgot to mention I had an uber eats pass) My order was estimated to be delivered at 13:25.
At 13:15 my order was ready for collection, but no driver to collect. I am thinking okay they must be busy. I decide to observe what is actually happening. The uber eats apps shows how I am being hopped from driver to driver. Finally at 13:30, a driver decides to accept my order. Guess where he is sitting! At a KFC 10 minutes away from Steers (I am talking about traffic wise and including long wait times at the robots here) At 13:45, the driver is STILL sitting at KFC. My order has been at steers for 30 minutes ready for collection! I called the driver using uber, I told him to hurry up cause my order has been waiting since 13:15 and your still sitting at kfc! At 14:00 my steers prince burger and chips arrives. Ice cold hard chips with a very cold and soggy burger.
I report this to uber eats and AGAIN I get this response! "We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about this. I understand it’s frustrating when you’re expecting a dish to come at a certain temperature and it doesn’t.

Listen, Uber Eats, if you can read this, know that you CANNOT batch orders of resturnats 10 to 15 minutes apart from each other with delivery addresses more than 3 km's apart, and expect the food to get to the customer warm and in good condition. IT DOES NOT WORK! I have been there and done that!
This is why I will NEVER use Uber Eats again! I feel that Uber Eats only cares about the money they make, and not the satisfaction of their customers with a satisfying meal.
I highly recommend anyone else reading this message to stop using Uber Eats as they will only batch orders and you will always end up falling short.
