Uber Eats falsely accuses customers of *****ing
On Friday I ordered a meal on the app priced at R109.90. I then proceeded to make use of the R50 discount promo code which meant that my order totalled R59.90. I allowed the app to add a small tip, which then meant the total came up to R64.90. I decided to pay with a R70, which meant I added another small amount for a tip. Just to get an email from Uber Eats afterwards to say my account is in arrears because "Your driver reported that you didn’t pay the full amount. R64.90 will be due on your next trip."
I reported this to Uber Eats and explained to them in detail what happened. They then responded with an email to say "Your account is currently in arrears as you have missed a cash payment from a previous order.
As this is the first time it has happened, we have cleared your arrears as a sign of goodwill. Please note that this is a one time exception, and should this happen again, you would need to clear your arrears yourself via credit or debit card.
In future, please make sure you pay the correct amount of cash, to ensure your account doesn't have an outstanding balance." No apology for accusing me of theft. No explanation as to what happened. Just a rap over the knuckles for something I did not do. It's a matter of principle and integrity! I refused to be falsely accused of *****ing. This is appalling!
