Uber Eats Drivers not Insured

On the 6th of Dec 2020 I was involved in an accident involving a Uber Eats driver on a bike (XMR548GP).

When I asked the driver for his license he could not produce it, when my insurer tried to recover the access from the bike owner it turns out he did not have insurance on the bike and Uber Eats apparently does not force drivers to be insured while driving for them.

In a time where we all make more use of delivery companies or to be driven by a company like Uber Eats/Uber there is a huge number of Uber drivers on the road and Uber as a company doesn't care that the drivers are insured or it seems even licensed - I would just like to warn all road users to be extra vigilant when you see those distinctive Blue carrier cases on the back of a bike - they drive like maniacs and are uninsured, be careful please.

I already know what Uber Eats response will be when trying to claim liability from them - "We are just an App" nobody works for us, we are just a link between suppliers and drivers.

I wish I could keep them liable as it is ultimately their Brand driving around causing damage to innocents 3rd parties, but my insurer already tried - I just want to Warn other, If you see a blue carrier box on a bike - stay well clear and next time you request a Uber driver, keep in mind that driver might not be insured so should there be an accident you will not be able to do a 3rd party claim against the driver.

Stay safe out there - Uber is just a App, not a caring company.
