Uber eats - don’t use the service if you not prepared to watch like a hawk for their driver

Based on my experience, if you Uber eats driver calls you, and you don’t answer he is permitted to leave with the items you have paid for, and this is acceptable.

If that is the case, why not leave you goods with a neighbour or outside gate. What is the point of him placing your items outside your gate, taking a picture of it, submitting that picture and completing the order by submitting the picture as proof to delivery, only to pick the items up thereafter and leave with them. Dishonest and the service and response from Uber is beyond disappointing.
