Uber Disappointment

I have had a number of niggles with the Uber Eats service but after a terrible experience with Nando's Sandown Ave, Cape Town, I have come to the conclusion that this service is simply not worthwhile. The concept is good but in reality, you do not get what you expect or what is promised. If you personally purchase your food at Nando's (for example) then you get the best possible service. You see what they are preparing and they know that you can see what you will be receiving. The next step down is the "drive-through" option. You don't see what they are doing or how they are preparing the food, so you have a 50/50 chance of getting what you expect. The chance that you first inspect the foods before driving off is low, so bad presentation or undersized portions will most likely be missed until it's too late. The Uber option is the lowest of the low. I have taken photos of what I received with my last order and it was truly pathetic. It was nothing compared to what I expected or paid for. The 10 wings, for example, could not have been more unappetizing or smaller in size and the R54 roasted vegetables (sharing portion) consisted of the equivalent of less than 1 carrot (I tried to reassemble it) and a similar quantity of other mush that I could not distinguish. I have had the same experience with KFC where the Zinger Wings consisted of ONLY the tiny wing tips, so I am of the opinion that it is a mindset on the part of the restaurants and not Uber's fault. Its as though the people assembling the order go out of their way to package the absolute minimum, just to get the order out and maximise profit. I know that the average worker doesn't care about the profits so the sub-standard packaging is either under instruction or a don't-care attitude. Either way, it's to the customer's financial detriment. Considering that you are paying far more for Uber to deliver the same food, I would still not complain if the delivered foods were comparable to what you receive when you are there in person, but in reality, what you receive is far below the promised standards. I tried to complain, but I received no response. Uber Eats is no longer an option for me and I will never use that service again. Go in person or go hungry... it's far better than throwing money away for some perceived convenience.
