Service is going downhill fast
Uber Eats has really gone downhill, especially lately. Drivers have figured out how to game the system—some go to a random location near your address and wait until the timer runs out. You never receive your food, and the driver likely ends up with a free meal.
In my recent experience, I ordered food and the app showed a 30-minute delay after the food was already prepared. Then, 45 minutes later, a new driver was assigned. He went to the wrong street, and despite messaging him to let him know, he ignored my instructions and declined my calls. Instead, he triggered the automated “your driver is trying to contact you” message, then marked the order as delivered with a photo taken in some random location.
I reached out to Uber Eats support, expecting help like I used to get in the past. But all I received were repeated generic responses. I had clear proof—screenshots of my conversation with the driver and evidence that he wasn’t at the correct address—but they didn’t even bother to check the chat history. No refund, no resolution.
Looks like it’s back to Mr D for me- and I would urge you to do the same. I didn’t think this would happen either until it does and you’re R400 down without the food you paid for and without a refund.
