Avoid Card Payments – Uber Eats Will Take Your Money and Refuse to Fix Errors!

I strongly advise never saving a card on file with Uber Eats unless you want to risk unauthorized charges and absolutely zero support from their so-called customer service.

I recently placed an order that was fully paid for, yet my account is falsely showing an “unpaid” charge of R117, preventing me from ordering. Despite repeatedly explaining this to Uber Eats support, they ignored the actual issue, instead sending copy-pasted, irrelevant responses about refund policies—even though I never asked for a refund.

If I had a card on file, they would have automatically taken this incorrect charge, and I would have had no way to dispute it. Their system makes errors, and their customer support refuses to correct them. Imagine being overcharged or double-billed and getting told, “Sorry, we can’t make adjustments after 48 hours.”

Uber Eats aggressively spams customers with discount vouchers encouraging them to order, yet when I finally tried to use one, I was blocked because of their own billing mistake. Their response? Nothing but generic, useless replies from agents who clearly don’t read the actual complaint.

There are plenty of other food delivery services that don’t pull these stunts or hold your account hostage over **** charges. If you must use Uber Eats, always pay in cash. Otherwise, you might find yourself paying for their system errors—with no way to get your money back.
