TymeBank ***** unhelpful

On Sunday 19 January 2025 at 18h58, I discovered unauthorized and *****ulent transactions on my bank account and reported it immediately to Tymebank. I did not authorize or initiate these transactions, nor have I given my consent to any third party to access or use my bank account for such purposes. I have taken the necessary steps to secure my account. I submitted affidavit as a formal statement of the *****ulent activity and request that TymeBank and the South African Police Services investigate the matter and take appropriate action. I have been following up weekly with regards to the outcome and have not been assisted in a appropriate matter. Since my incident I have become aware of many more cases within TymeBank and believe they should compensate account holders if their systems are compromised.

Why do you remove the word F*R*A*U*D from my posting? It seems that I am not the only one complaining about TymeBank in ability to assist and protect their clients from being ****** from?

Hi MARI-LINE,

If you remain unhappy with the resolution of your matter, you are at liberty to lodge a complaint with the National Financial Ombud Scheme (also called the “NFO”).

The NFO is an umbrella Financial Services Ombud scheme formed by the amalgamation of 4 separate previously existing South African Ombud Schemes: the offices of the Banking Ombud (OBS); the Credit Ombud (CO); the office of the Long-term Insurance Ombud (OLTI); and the Short-Term Insurance Ombudsman (OSTI). The NFO commenced operations on 1 March 2024.

The NFO is an external complaint resolution ombud scheme established in terms of Chapter 14 of the Financial Sector Regulation Act 9 of 2017, and is tasked with resolving complaints between financial services providers and complainants in a fair, effective, impartial and timely manner – without charge to complainants. The NFO adjudicates complaints in terms of its rules which can be found on the website of the NFO: www.nfosa.co.za
