Poor service from tymebank

I am very disappointed in Tymebank! On Sunday 18 January 2026 I accidentally lost my card without even realising it. On Monday 19 January I was checking my bank balance on the app and realised that someone picked up my card and has been using the tap to pay function to withdraw money from my account. Almost 20 transactions happened on my account between Sunday and Monday morning. I immediately called tymebank to block the card when I realise they did not even have an option to deactivate the tap to pay function on their app.

The card was the deactivated and I was told yo pay R70 to get a new card. I logged a ***** call on my account and received feedback that I would not be refunded my money even though it is the bank's irresponsibility of allowing a tap to pay function that cannot be deactivated.

Today 23 January 26 I called Tymebank to request to close my account. They tell me I owe then R3 and there is a balance of R1 in the account. I sent transfer a R5 to the account. When I check the balance is R3 then I check the account transactions I see I am charged R3 for am insufficient funds transaction that took place this morning. The person who stole my card is still trying to use the card and I am charged a fee even though the card is blocked.

I call Tymebank and request to close this account as soon as possible because I dont know how many R3 I will be charged everytime this person uses my blocked card and they tell me it will take 24 hrs to close the account.

I am truly disappointed and would like to take this further with the Ombudsman.
