More of a hassle than convenience

I asked my mum to do a cash deposit for me at Pick n Pay Dundee today. I asked her to phone me when she's at the store and I will generate a TymeCode on my app which she can then use to complete the deposit. She called me when she got to the cashier to say that she was told that's not possible, they cannot do a deposit that way and she needed to have my Tyme Bank card. Alternatively, she could deposit the money into her Tyme Bank account and then transfer it to my account. How will banking ever be possible if it has to be conducted in this manner? It would mean no one could ever deposit for me as they would need my card?

I called the Tyme Bank call centre a short while ago in an attempt to make sense of this whole matter. The lady I spoke to said that she can't speak on behalf of Pick n Pay Dundee, that maybe they can't process deposits made using a TymeCode and that my mum could go to another Pick n Pay or Boxer store! Please tell me why some stores would have the capability to process deposits made using a TymeCode but others not? Also, is convenience not the whole advantage of having a Tyme Bank account? It was shocking that she couldn't provide a proper answer or suggestion or even an offer for me to lay a complaint. My mum had to end up making the deposit into my FNB account.

This whole experience has made me question the need for a Tyme Bank account if we're going to end up having to use the traditional banks. It also begs the question of why roll out your products nationwide if proper training is not provided to the on-the-ground staff and the call centre staff.
